Boonah Artists Honour ANZAC Spirit with Handmade Tribute at Springfield Match

A powerful tribute to the ANZAC spirit will take centre stage at tomorrow’s football clash at Brighton Homes Arena, thanks to the work of Boonah artist Wendy Badke.
Badke has created a striking handcrafted coat of arms sculpture, commissioned for the ANZAC Day match in Springfield. The piece stands as a symbol of remembrance, respect, and community connection, reflecting the values at the heart of ANZAC Day.
Speaking with Radio Springfield City, Hue Kedge from Creative Hearts Co. highlighted the dedication behind the project, which brings together art and storytelling to honour those who have served.
In the lead-up to the event, Creative Hearts Co. has also been actively engaging the community through poppy-making workshops held at The Hub. These sessions have provided locals with a meaningful, hands-on way to reflect on the significance of ANZAC Day, creating symbols of remembrance that carry deep personal meaning.
The combination of Badke’s sculpture and the community-led workshops showcases the important role creativity plays in keeping traditions alive, while strengthening local connections.
As the community gathers at Brighton Homes Arena, the artwork will serve as a poignant reminder that ANZAC Day is not only about remembrance, but also about unity, mateship, and shared stories.
